What it means
The R-117 sign prohibits entry to ridden animals. It refers to users travelling mounted on animals, not to all pedestrians or to any animal presence that might appear on the road. It is usually placed at accesses where that traffic is not allowed because of the layout, safety, or coexistence with other users. When you see it, if you are with a ridden animal you must use an authorised alternative route and not enter the signed stretch. In the test they often ask which specific user is affected and distinguish it from the sign reserving a path for ridden animals.
