What it means
The R-401b sign indicates mandatory passage. It requires you to pass on the side or through the space shown by the sign, normally to clear an island, obstacle, roadworks, or lane separation in an orderly way. It does not offer a preferred option, but an imposed path for that specific point. It is usually placed where the road layout needs to channel traffic and prevent vehicles from passing on the wrong side. When you see it, adjust your position in time and follow the marked passage without entering excluded areas. In the test they often ask the correct side and that it is an obligation, not a simple indication.
