What it means
The S-222 sign gives advance direction information toward a motorway or dual carriageway. It informs in advance of the destinations or paths leading to a high-capacity road, so you can choose lane and prepare the manoeuvre before the decision point. It is usually placed on approaches to links, roundabouts, forks, or exits where several directions compete for the driver's attention. When you see it, read all destinations, confirm whether your route enters a motorway or dual carriageway, and signal in time. In the test they often check that it is advance signing, not the immediate start of a motorway or dual carriageway or an obligation to take the exit.
