What it means
The S-830 sign indicates the extension of a prohibition to both sides. It works as a supplementary panel for another main sign, extending its application to both sides of the signed place, normally for stopping, parking, or another restriction indicated by the sign it accompanies. It is usually placed below the main sign to specify the spatial scope of the prohibition. When you see it, do not interpret it alone: always read the upper sign and apply its prohibition to both sides according to the panel. In the test they often ask about its supplementary function and expect you not to confuse the panel with an independent prohibition or a mandatory direction.
